Sleigh Beats Privacy Policy

The game collects nothing about you. It has no analytics, no advertising, no accounts, and no way of contacting me at all.

Who I am

Sleigh Beats is made by Jason Foster, trading as Designspin, a software engineering practice based in Norwich, UK. For anything related to your personal data, get in touch through the support form.

The short version

There is no analytics package in the game, no advertising network, no crash reporter and no account to make. Nothing you do while playing is sent to me. The only parts that talk to anything outside your phone are Apple's or Google's own: the achievements, the store and the occasional request for a rating, and all of those are theirs to run.

What the game stores, and where

Your best score and stars for each stop, which stops you have finished, what you have picked in Santa's Workshop, and your settings (volume, note speed and timing) are written to files inside the app's own storage on your phone. They never leave the device. Deleting the app deletes them, and there is no backup I can restore for you.

Achievements

If you are signed in to Game Center on iPhone or iPad, or Play Games on Android, milestones in the game unlock achievements there. Those are Apple's and Google's services, handled entirely by their software on your device, and they are covered by their privacy policies rather than this one. I receive no personal information about you from either. Sign out of Game Center in iOS Settings, or of Play Games on Android, and the game simply stops sending them.

Ratings

Once, after a good run, the game asks your phone whether now would be a good moment to ask for a rating. Apple or Google decides whether anything appears at all, and a rating or review you leave goes to them, as it would from their store.

The Full Songbook purchase

Opening the rest of Santa's route is a one off in app purchase, handled by Apple on iPhone and iPad and by Google on Android. Your payment details go to them and never come near me or the game. I am told only that a purchase completed, which is what unlocks the stops. Restoring on a new device asks the store, not me, and so does Family Sharing on Apple's devices.

Children

Sleigh Beats is made for the whole family to play, children included, and it collects no data from anyone, of any age. There are no adverts, no chat, no user generated content, no links out of the game and no way for players to contact each other. The one purchase goes through Apple or Google, so Ask to Buy and Screen Time on Apple's devices, and Family Link on Android, work as they do everywhere else.

If you write to me for support

The support form on this site sends your name, email address and message to my inbox so that I can reply. That is the only place you can hand me any personal data, you have to choose to do it, and I keep it only as long as it takes to sort out whatever you wrote about. It is never used for marketing and never passed to anyone else.

Changes to this policy

If the game ever starts collecting anything, this page will say so before it ships and the date at the top will change. As things stand there is nothing to disclose.
