Ballistic Defence 2 Privacy Policy

From version 1.6 the game collects nothing about you. It has no analytics, no advertising, no accounts, and no way of contacting me at all.

Who I am

Ballistic Defence 2 is made by Jason Foster, trading as Designspin, a software engineering practice based in Norwich, UK. For anything related to your personal data, get in touch through the support form.

The short version

There is no analytics package in the game, no advertising network, no crash reporter and no account to make. Nothing you do while playing is sent to me. The only parts that talk to anything outside your phone are Apple's own: Game Center and the App Store, and both of those are Apple's to run.

Adverts, before version 1.6

Versions up to and including 1.5 showed adverts, served by Google AdMob, which ran under Google's own privacy policy. Version 1.6 removed the adverts along with Google's software, and nothing has taken their place.

What the game stores, and where

Your high scores, which campaign sectors you have cleared, your best in Endless and whether you own the campaign are written to files inside the app's own storage on your phone. If you played an earlier version, the game reads the high score that version saved, from the same storage, so it carries over. None of it leaves the device. Deleting the app deletes it, and there is no backup I can restore for you.

Game Center

If you are signed in to Game Center, the end of a classic game or an Endless run submits your score to Apple's leaderboards, and the classic shows you your rank. That is Apple's service, handled entirely by Apple's software on your device, and it is covered by Apple's privacy policy rather than this one. I see leaderboard entries the same way any other player does, and I receive no personal information about you from it. Sign out of Game Center in iOS Settings and the game simply stops posting.

The campaign purchase

Opening the campaign is a one off in app purchase handled by Apple. Your payment details go to Apple and never come near me or the game. I am told only that a purchase completed, which is what unlocks it. Restoring on a new device asks Apple, not me.

Anyone who bought No Ads in an earlier version gets the campaign free. To find out whether you did, the game reads the App Store receipt Apple keeps inside the app on your phone, and checks it there. The receipt is not sent anywhere.

Children

The game collects no data from anyone, of any age. There is no chat, no user generated content and no way for players to contact each other.

If you write to me for support

The support form on this site sends your name, email address and message to my inbox so that I can reply. That is the only place you can hand me any personal data, you have to choose to do it, and I keep it only as long as it takes to sort out whatever you wrote about. It is never used for marketing and never passed to anyone else.

Changes to this policy

If the game ever starts collecting anything, this page will say so before it ships and the date at the top will change. As things stand there is nothing to disclose.
